Writing: Avoid the Plague of Plagiarism - Learn to Paraphrase

When we present evidence or do research, it is tempting to just write things word by word from the source where we obtained it from.  This is called plagiarism.  So, what can a student do to avoid this from happening?  In this class, we learn a method to take text and paraphrase it using our own words and rewrite it.  We also learn how to correctly cite quotations and sources, so the reader can see it is not our work or our words.  I teach in a relaxed manner.  Prior knowledge:  Your learner should have a reading level appropriate for their age level and be able to compose a paragraph.  There is a lot of student/teacher interaction here, so it is helpful if your learner is willing to try the method with me step by step.  Class rules:  We are respectful of each other, mute when we are not speaking, and raise our hand if we have an answer or a question.
