🎶🎶 What are lessons? 🎶🎶 Bassoon lessons are a great way to grow confidence and comfort playing the bassoon. At your lesson we will first go over any questions you have from your practice time the week before. We will then focus on bassoon-specific techniques, the how and why of creating those sounds and a concrete plan of what to do in your practice time. My hope for you is to enjoy playing the bassoon because you have a solid understanding of how the instrument works and why we focus on certain things that are bassoon specific. 🎶🎶 Why Dr. McCallum? 🎶🎶 • I've been teaching music for over 20 years to students of all ages, levels, and exceptionalities. • I have a DMA from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. • I have 11 years of full-time 1:1 private bassoon lessons experience. I have worked with beginners up to college music majors. My approach to teaching takes into account the mind-body connection as a whole. We will spend time learning how to use our bodies to create and sustain our sound as well as how to notice how our thoughts affect our playing. A mindful and curious approach to playing helps students learn to use their thoughts to their advantage. 🎶🎶 Cancellation Policy 🎶🎶 This class is set up as an ongoing class. Please think of that as a standing appointment you're setting up with me and your learner. You'll be charged every Sunday by Outschool unless you've told me in advance that you cannot meet that week. I cannot provide make-up lessons to students for no-shows unless you message me 24 hours in advance. In the event that you message me 24 hours in advance, I allow two makeup lessons per quarter. Quarters are as follows: - January 1st through March 31st - April 1st through June 30th - July 1st through September 30th - October 1st through December 31st I cannot provide makeup time for students arriving late to class. Outschool policy states that teachers are not required to wait longer than 10 minutes past the scheduled starting time. Lessons canceled with under 24 hours' notice can be refunded by request of the child's guardian due to illness or family emergency only. In the event of either, please request a refund for that class when you notify me of the emergency. Refunds cannot be honored after the week of the missed class. 🎶🎶 NOTE 🎶🎶 I am available more times than listed below. If you have a special scheduling request, PLEASE reach out to our organization!
