What's included
1 live meeting
25 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Students are expected to practice routinely. We will discuss an appropriate length of practice at a students first lesson.Assessment
Students are assessed informally throughout the lesson. All lessons are customized to students based on their progress.Class Experience
In this class, I give private, individualized, trombone instruction on the trombone (including all trombones such as tenor, f-attachment tenor, alto, and bass trombones). Lessons include appropriate literature and fundamental studies such as scales, tone exercises, flexibility, range, clef studies, and other fundamental skills needed to play the trombone. Students also play from an etude book (appropriate to their skill level). Lessons are tailored to specific student goals and aspirations. Students can also get advice on specific pieces of music if scanned and sent to me. My teaching approach involves a holistic approach to improving student performance, knowledge of their musicianship as well as knowledge of their instrument. This holistic approach involves different pedagogical techniques, musicianship, performance practices (such as avoiding performance anxiety), and much more. I also give tools to parents to be able to assist their children in improving. Why Mr. Anderson? • I have been teaching trombone for 10 years to a diverse range of students. • I was the graduate assistant of the trombone studio at the University of Florida. • I am skilled in analyzing trombone performances and can guide students to their goals. I can also troubleshoot issues that may hinder their performance. • I can prepare students for auditions in ensembles or higher education. • I have extensive experience in trombone performance and in different genres of music which involve trombone such as classical, jazz, Avant-Garde, and others. • My teaching philosophy is that all students can attain excellence in performing music and deserve to learn from excellent teachers. My studio is a place where anyone can improve and gain confidence in music. Cancellation Policy: This class is set-up as an ongoing class. Please think of that as a standing appointment you're setting up with me and your learner. You'll be charged every Sunday by Outschool unless you've told me in advance that you cannot meet that week. Quarters are as follows: - January 1st through March 31st - April 1st through June 30th - July 1st through September 30th - October 1st through December 31st I cannot provide makeup time for students arriving late to class. Outschool policy states that teachers are not required to wait longer than 10 minutes past the scheduled starting time. Lessons canceled with under 24 hours' notice can be refunded by request of the child's guardian due to illness or family emergency only. In the event of either, please request a refund for that class when you notify me of the emergency. Refunds cannot be honored after the week of the missed class.
