In this class we will look at some of the most popular and upcoming household robots from the Roomba to others such as the new household robo chef! We will also look at the famous multipurpose 'Pepper' robots who are now working in shopping centres, airports, schools, hotels and even restaurants. We will compare them to the smaller 'Zenbo' home companion robot. I will use slides and videos to introduce learners to many robots that are intended to become mainstream within the next decade. Together we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of having robot assistance in the home and learners will have a chance to draw and describe their very own robot. No prior knowledge is needed but classes tend to be interactive and learners will be asked to keep their camera and mic on to be able to fully engage in the class. Images courtesy of Warner Bros.
