This club is a discovery class where the only academic requirement is a passion for learning and creating. In this online live club, each student will: - Participate in a session with other enthusiasts their age group (10-14) who own a Spike Prime set at home, discovering how robotics engineering is a part of their everyday life. - Enjoy an hour of personalized project-based discussion and interest-based projects. - Learn to design, build, create, and code models that will require an engineer's eye. - Collaborate with small groups (6 enthusiasts maximum per session) with one adult certified live instructor. Week of August 9 (Robotics Platforms) - Robotics - Control your robot to make sounds/show colorful lights/make sounds Week of August 16 (Coding Platforms) - Robots - Program your robot to move around depending on your specific design Week of August 23 (Robotics Engineering) - Engineering Design Process - Define a Problem Week of August 30 (Mechanical Engineering) - Problem Solving Strategies - Plan the Solution to a Problem The class will continue learning more about the Engineering Design Process as it progresses.
Learning Goals
Robotics is a growing field in our world that is constantly changing and advancing in technology.
In this course, you will experience firsthand what it is like to be a Robotics Engineer. You will have the opportunity to build and program your own robot through various obstacles and challenges presented throughout the class.
For this course, students will be programming and building using Spike Prime. Students will be using it to learn to program robots, create their projects, and share their creations.
Students will learn that being a Robotics Engineer starts with understanding a robot's parts and building and programming several simple tasks.
With the instructor's guide, students will learn that they, too, can be a part of the Robotics Engineer process if they are willing to try.
