In this course, learners will receive their "case file" beforehand and come to class ready to work with their team of detectives to solve the mystery of the missing Chromebook. Learners will be able to take notes (and are encouraged to) for areas that they think should be investigated (and please, parents- let your learners work on it. If they get stuck, I will be giving them hints to help them along.) I will have a document for myself to read them additional information based on what information the team agrees to pursue. There will be suspects, evidence, clues, and an hour to solve the crime! This course will be a mix between a choose your own adventure book and a dungeons and dragons campaign. I will be working as a game master of sorts and keeping the peace, moderating conversation, and acting as the different key players of the investigation.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their critical thinking skills, work together, and have fun solving a fake "true crime" case.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Though this is a true crime class, there will be no violent material. I am building a crime myself and it will be readily available for parents to read before class starts.
Supply List
A handout/"case file" will be provided before the start of class. The handout does not need to be printed out but can be if that will help your learner. Something to write with or make notes with is encouraged as well, as learners will be getting information as they investigate the case.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello everyone! My name is Abbie! I finished my master's degree in library science from Drexel University in September 2023; I also hold a BA in English and journalism from the University of Delaware; some of my favorite coursework outside of my major were classes in other forms of writing, literature, art history, performing arts, and social sciences. When I am not in class, you can find me reading anything I can get my hands on and watching LOTS of Netflix. I look forward to talking to you all more!
