Class Experience

US Grade 9 - 12
In this Intro to Criminal Law class, students will learn the elements of a crime- Actus Reus, Mens Rea, Concurrence, and Causation. The students will follow along a google slide presentation, which will begin with me lecturing about each element, followed by an open discussion question. During the open discussion questions, students will be given the opportunity to talk with each other about if the fact pattern meets the element that was just taught. At the end of the class, there will be a longer fact pattern that the students will be able to determine if each element is met, and therefore an illegal act. Since this in an introduction class, students will not need to have any knowledge of criminal law before taking this class.
