We will learn facts about sharks such as; what/ how they eat, where they live, different types of sharks, how fast they can swim, and more! My class is interactive with plenty of time for questions and answers. We will begin with an outline of what we will learn, ask and answer questions as we go along, and have a review at the end to clarify any misunderstanding and make sure the content was retained. My teaching style is gentle and calm, but at a "perky pace," to keep learners engaged with the content and each other. We will interact with slides, video clips, games, discussion, and an art project at the end of class. There is no required experience or prior knowledge expected, just a love of learning and an interest in sharks!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of different types of sharks, where they live, what their skin is like, what they eat, and how they use their senses in the oceans. We will also learn that they are endangered and how we can help.

Two handouts will be provided. Learners who want to make the craft will need scissors, glue, and crayons or markers.

Hello! I am so excited to be here and tell you about myself. I live in Arizona with my family where we enjoy going to the lake, traveling, hiking, camping and exploring the outdoors.
I am certified to teach grades K-8 in all subjects and I have an ESL endorsement. I have a master’s in early childhood education and a bachelor’s in Elementary Education, both from Arizona State University. I have over 15 years of teaching experience, which includes eight years in kindergarten, four years in pre-kindergarten in China, and two years as a preschool director/ teacher in Arizona. Although I love teaching pre-kindergarten and kindergarten learners, I am excited to teach other ages as well. I hope to connect with students and help them discover a confidence and love of learning that will last a lifetime.
Although a majority of my training and experience is in early childhood, I love facilitating exciting educational experiences for all learners. These are the areas I plan to explore and share with your children:
• Social skills: I am passionate about mindfulness, breathing techniques, self-regulation, communication and managing difficult feelings.
• Writing: I studied with Matt Glover while living in China. He taught me how to help young writers create and share their own books. I cannot wait to share these skills with young learners!
• Thematic Units: I will teach thematic units which will contain all of the subjects of the core curriculum. My courses include cooking and fitness classes to help learners understand the importance of self-care routines while learning about the mind/body connection. These units will be paired with virtual field trips.
