Assessment
I will complete an informal assessment throughout the lesson to check for students understanding of the reading strategy and the new concept they have learned.

Class Experience

US Grade 3
This class introduces students to a reading comprehension skills strategy that helps them develop an understanding for identifying the main idea and supporting details. During the lesson the students will be able to identify key skills in finding the meaning of the main idea with supporting details. The students discover why it is important to find the main idea with supporting details in both fiction and nonfiction passages. The students complete a graphic organizer and continue to write about their reading. This allows students to support their main idea with the supporting details as text evidence.

The students will develops skills in reading comprehension and  determine the main idea of a text to explain how it is supported by key details to summarize the text with evidence.
