Students will learn all about spiders during this class through an engaging in-class discussion accompanied by a Powerpoint presentation and a Youtube video outlining the evolutionary history of spiders. This class will cover basic external and internal spider anatomy and the different functions different organs serve, different types of spiders around the world, ecological and medical importance, and interesting facts about these eight-legged creatures. We will also crawl into the evolutionary history of spiders and how they came to be the creepy crawlies we know and love today.
Learning Goals
After class is complete students will have a better understanding of spider anatomy, evolutionary history, ecological and medical impacts, and so much more!

Teacher expertise and credentials
My name is Kennedi Travis and I have a passion for passing on knowledge! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Wildlife Management from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD, and worked for the state of South Dakota as a Fisheries Technician for three years. I also participated in Spider Studies and DWU for two years identifying different types of wolf spiders found in the state of South Dakota. I have vast experience volunteering in local classrooms on my days off.
Science, particularly Biology, is one of my favorite things to teach and I also have a special love for history. I value teaching learners of all ages and feel that knowledge is our most valuable resource.
