Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Ms. Brekke. I love teaching about gardening, sustainability, nature, and other environmental topics. I also love being outside and hope to share my love of nature with your child. I come to teaching with the dream that everyone can be comfortable growing a small amount of their own food and learn to appreciate time spent outside. My approach to teaching is to share my appreciation of gardening and growing with my students so that they can see the same wonder I see. I bring mindfulness and joy to every class I teach and look forward to sharing that with your child.
I have a bachelors degree in environmental studies, a masters degree in sustainable food systems, and am certified in permaculture design. I am currently studying to become board certified in holistic nutrition and registered as an herbalist with the American Herbalist Guild. I'm excited to bring my passion for nutrition and herbs to my classes. I have over 15 years of experiential education teaching on environmental topics as well as over 6 years of experience teaching team building and mindfulness. I am also working on building my own urban homestead on my small city lot in Chicago where I live with my partner James.
If you have any questions please reach out to me. Please allow 48 hours for a response. I look forward to working with your child in class!
