In this ongoing class, students will create different types of self-portraits and poetry, completing a paired writing and art assignment each week.
Class experience
Throughout history, artists have used their work to tell the world about who they are. From Picasso to Salvador Dali to Frida Kahlo (and many, many more), artists have painted, collaged, sculpted and photographed themselves as a way of self-expression. Each week of this ongoing class we will do an art project paired with a poetry prompt that will tell the world a bit more about us. A list of supplies students will need for each class will be posted in the classroom each week. Basic supplies students will need are: paper, pen/pencil, scissors, glue (glue sticks work best but liquid is also ok), collage materials such as old magazines, acrylic or poster paint and a brush, smart phone or digital camera
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
