SEXUAL CONTENT
- A pack of wolves is described as being driven by two appetites: hunting and love-making
VIOLENCE
- Brutal survival and "primitive law" is explored
- Two men are hunted by a pack of wolves. One runs behind a hill in pursuit and it is inferred that he is eaten (not graphically described, but the scene is ominous)
- A dog is beaten severely and explicitly by several masters. It is also forced into a dog ring to brutally fight and kill other dogs (NOTE: [spoiler warning] while the tone of the narrator is objective at these events, it is eventually understood that these beatings are immoral, as the dog is saved by a loving master who nurtures it back to proper health)
- Wolves and dogs are shot for fighting
RACISM SEXISM AND SOCIAL NEGATIVITIES
- Racist slurs including sq*aw and n*ggardly
- An antagonist mentions the titles of several white supremacy books he enjoys
- A wolf observes white humans as having superior power to Native American humans (NOTE: while still problematic, this observation comes down to the wolf perceiving their tools/technology as more advanced ie guns)
- A Native American man is tricked out of selling his prize dog by being given whiskey to the point of drunkenness
(NOTE: these themes will be warned of and acknowledged as entirely problematic)
PROFANITY
- Racist slurs including:
- sq*aw
- n*ggardly (NOTE: the etymology of this word reveals that it is not related to the racial slur n*gger, however, due to the similarity of sound, it is still not acceptable and will be labeled as such)
DRUGS/ALCOHOL
- A Native American man is tricked out of selling his prize dog by being given whiskey to the point of drunkenness
- Smoking is depicted throughout
