Students will be motivated to read out loud in this reading club. It will be a fun environment to encourage reading, reading comprehension, and creative thought! This is an ongoing reading club. We will be using the Early Reading Adventure Scooby-Doo books. I will be screen sharing the books, so it is not necessary for you to purchase them. The books we will use are on these reading levels: GRL: I-L Lexile: 240-480 DRA: 16-24 These reading levels are all equivalent to the average American 3rd grade reading level. I've listed this class with a flexible age range of 7-11 years old. The students will take turns reading the pages. As we read, they may feel free to draw the story or make it with their small connecting building blocks. August 4th: Read together: Snow Monster Scare, by: Robin Wasserman Show and Tell: Bring a snow related show and tell item. Bring white paper, scissors, a pencil, and glue. We will make a snowman by quilling paper, so fun! Isabella attended August 11th: Read together: Search for the Lost Tooth, by: Maria S. Barbo Build something from the story with play-doh. August 18th: Read together: Lost at Sea, by: Michelle H. Nagler Discuss - What message would you put in a bottle? Draw and design a surf board perfect for Scooby. Draw a pirate treasure map. Show an example from the book Pirate Crafts & More, by: Haley Garinger September 8th: Read together: Dinosaur Ghost, by: Erin Soderberg Show and Tell: Bring a dinosaur book or toy to show the class. Draw dinosaurs that you may see in a museum. Parental Guidance
These Scooby Doo stories are age appropriate for the age group 7-11. The content is not scary, like many of the advanced Scooby Doo stories and movies.
Supply List
Various supplies will be needed each week. I will always post a note about these supplies. Example of supplies needed: -play-doh -paper, pencil, colored pencils -small connecting building blocks -items for show and tell
