Students will learn the historical art form called quilling. The art of quilling is using thin strips of colorful paper and turning them around an object to make coils. The coils are then shaped into beautiful pictures!

 Week 1
Lesson 1
watermelon
The quilling shape taught in this class is the triangle. This can be made as a free standing project, added to cardstock, or added to a greetings card. Fun Fact: Watermelon Day is August 3rd!
 Week 2
Lesson 2
snowflake
The quilling shapes taught in this class are the round closed coil, marquis, and the teardrop. Add a ribbon or a piece of yarn to make a beautiful ornament or window hanging! Fun Fact: Flake Appreciation Day is December 18th!
 Week 3
Lesson 3
cats
The quilling shapes taught in this class are the teardrop, triangle, heart scroll, and the cat/bunny face. This project is perfect for cat lovers! It can be used as a Valentine's card, anniversary card, or for a cat lovers birthday! Fun Fact: Cat International Day is August 8th!
 Week 4
Lesson 4
rose
The quilling shapes taught in this class are the marquis, shaped marquis, and round closed coil. This class is perfect for helping you make a Valentine's, Get Well, Thank You, Happy Birthday, or an I Love You card! Simply adjust the rose color to whatever you want your card to communicate. Example of rose color meaning in many, but not all, cultures: red - romance, love pink and peach - gratitude, appreciation yellow - friendship, joy Fun Fact: Rose Day is February 7th!
Homework Offered
The projects will possibly take additional time after the student finishes the videos. The video is taught as a quill-a-long, but if the student doesn't finish it at the same speed at the teacher, additional time will be needed.

Supplies needed for each class:
- strips of paper in various colors - 5mm wide (quilling paper or construction/copier paper strips)
- liquid glue that dries clear
- scissors
- pencil, toothpick, or quilling tool
- cardstock or blank notecards 
- a ribbon if making the snowflake into an ornament
