Robotics Made Simple! for Young Learners (Spike Essential - Introductory Level)
What's included
4 live meetings
4 in-class hoursHomework
Students will be allowed to continue to build and program their robots in between meetings. Before every class, students can present their projects and the improvements they made in the process.Class Experience
Each session is full of projects based on Passion, Collaboration with Peers, and a Playful Spirit. It is full of hands-on Memorable, Meaningful, and Motivating activities, specially designed for girls and boys, 7-9 years old. In this online live course, each student will: - Participate in a class with other children his/her age group (7 - 9), discovering how robotics is a part of their everyday life. - Enjoy four hours of personalized project-based instruction. - Learn to design, build, create models that will require an engineer's eye using a robotics platform designed for children. - Collaborate with small groups (6 students maximum per session) with one adult certified live instructor. Syllabus/Topics covered: Week 1 (Intro to Robotics Platform) - Robotics - Hardware: Put the elements together - Software: Control the robot to move the motor, make sounds & show colorful lights Week 2 (Robots & Coding Platform) - Robots and adventures - Coding: Program your robot to help you accomplish a task - Robotics Challenge: Boat Trip! Week Day 3 (Robotics Engineering) - Engineering Design Process - Coding: Program your robot to move - Robotics Challenge: Arctic Ride! Week Day4 (Wrap up / Combining Behaviors) - Problem Solving Strategies - Coding: Program your robot to combine behaviors - Robotics Challenge: Cave Car! The 60 minutes classes are incredibly interactive: 10-minute lecture using videos and slides. 40-minute self-paced creation. 10-minute discussion of achievements.
Learning Goals
