In this ongoing coding club, learners, ages 5-6, who have already programmed using ScratchJr and are looking into learning, even more, will enjoy sharing their designs and projects and collaborating towards improving their code with other young STEM enthusiasts.

Participants will be allowed to continue to improve their projects in between meetings. Before every class, students can present their projects and the improvements they made in the process.Class Experience
Each session is full of projects based on Passion, Collaboration with Peers, and a Playful Spirit. It is full of hands-on Memorable, Meaningful, and Motivating activities, specially designed for girls and boys, 5-6 years old. This club is a discovery class for learners who have used ScratchJr before and are looking to keep learning and creating that platform. In this live club, each student will: - Participate in a session with other enthusiasts of his/her age group (5-6) who are coding enthusiasts with ScratchJr, discovering how programming is a part of their everyday lives. - Enjoy a personalized project-based discussion and interest-based projects. - Learn to design, build, create, and code models that will require a programmer's eye. - Collaborate with small groups (6 enthusiasts maximum per session) with one adult certified live instructor. Syllabus/Topics covered: First Week (Introduction) - Introduction to the Club - Showcase what you know to do Following weeks: - Think Creatively - Scratch Jr. Advanced Controls - Compounding Commands - Reason Systematically - Use Multiple Commands Simultaneously - Add and Command Multiple Sprites - Work Collaboratively - Add and Combine Multiple Backgrounds - Create Your Own Story The 45 minutes meetings are incredibly interactive: 5-minute lecture using videos and slides. 35-minute self-paced creation. 5-minute group discussion of achievements.
Learning Goals
Computer Programming is a growing field in our world that is constantly changing and advancing in technology.
In this club, you will get to experience firsthand what it is like to be a Programmer. You will have the opportunity to build and program your own animation through various obstacles and challenges presented at every meeting.
For this club, enthusiasts will be programming and building code using ScratchJr. Participants will be using it to learn to program animations, create their projects, and share their creations.
Participants will learn that being a Programmer starts with understanding algorithms, logic, and procedures while building and programming several simple tasks.
With the instructor's guide, participants will learn that they, too, can become better programmers.
