Engineering Club: Cracking the Design Process for Future and Young Engineers
What's included
1 live meeting
1 in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Students will be allowed to continue to improve their projects in between meetings. At the beginning of every meeting, club members may present their projects and their improvements in the process.Class Experience
Each session contains projects based on Passion, Collaboration with Peers, and a Playful Spirit. It is full of hands-on, Memorable, Meaningful, and Motivating activities designed for children 9-12 years old. This club is a discovery class whose only academic requirement is a passion for learning, creating, and making. In this live club, each participant will: - Participate in a session with other makers in their age group (9-12) who love to make stuff out of ordinary materials found at home, discovering how engineering is a part of their everyday life. - Enjoy an hour of personalized project-based discussion and interest-based projects. - Learn to design, build, create, and troubleshoot models that will require an engineer's eye. - Collaborate with small groups (6 future engineers maximum per session) with one adult certified live instructor. The 60 minutes meetings are incredibly interactive: 10-minute lecture using videos and slides. 40-minute self-paced creation. 10-minute discussion of achievements.
Learning Goals
Engineers play an important role in our everyday lives; in this course, we will be learning the basics of engineering and how it impacts our everyday life.
In this club, you will get to experience first hand what it is like to think like an Engineer. You will have the opportunity to design, plan, create, troubleshoot, and test your own solutions to each week's challenge using the Engineering Design Process. In our Engineering club, participants will learn more about different engineering fields and how they contribute to everyday life.
In this course, students will put on their engineering caps and test their abilities by creating different projects related to the engineering field discussed for the day.
