In this On-going class, learners will read about a wild animal, learn facts, write their own sentence or sentences about what they learned and create a step-by step drawing of the animal.

Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Does your child love WILD ANIMALS? Do they love to learn interesting facts about animals? Do they love to draw?

Come join me in this fun and fact-filled class about animals! The class will follow the following format:
1. Introductions of class members.
2. Introduction of the animal of the week through a short reading passage that will be presented by the teacher. Learners do not have to be able to read the passage.
3. Discussion.
4. Learners will write their own sentence or sentences about the animal.
5. Learners will draw the animal. They can follow my step-by-step instructions or draw their own.
6. Share.
7. Goodbyes.

Learners may join or leave this ongoing class at any time. A new animal will be presented each week.

Learning Goals

*Learners will learn a variety of facts about a new animal each week through reading(teacher-directed) and discussion.
*Learners will write their own sentence or sentences about the animal. Proper sentence structure will be modelled and encouraged.

*I will provide a one-page handout for each class. The handout is optional. Please have some paper available if you choose not to use the handout.

**There is an optional handout(Wild Animals Handout) for this class. Plain paper will also work.. Whatever you choose, I would encourage keeping your learner's completed pages together in a book called WILD ANIMAL FUN. Your learner will get to experience making their own book which is a fabulous way to foster a LOVE OF WRITING. I have attached a digital cover that your learner may use as a cover page for their books if you wish.

I have 26 years of teaching experience. I have a Masters in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Theory. I was a classroom teacher and an Elementary School Vice Principal. I have an Advanced Certificate in Literacy Instruction with a strong background and passion for teaching students to read, write, listen and speak. I am also an artist. I have a strong foundation in Art Education and love to teach lessons that mesh the Fundamentals of Art with the pure joy of creating something.
