***Magic Tree House Merlin Missions are more challenging adventures for the experienced Magic Tree House reader. In each adventure, Merlin the Magician sends Jack and Annie on an adventure in the Magic Tree House. These books are packed full of fantasy, and non-fiction information, so they appeal to a wide variety of interests. Topics in this exciting book series include: dragons, the famous magician Houdini, sea monsters, Leonardo da Vinci, penguins, castles, Florence Nightingale, penguins and more!
Each class will focus on a book from the Magic Treehouse Merlin Missions book series by Mary Pope Osborne. We will discuss the novel in a book club setting by sharing our favorite parts, elements of the story like setting and plot, talking about Annie's and Jack's adventures, what we liked or didn't like, discussing what we learned, the characters, etc. Learners will be encouraged to answer questions, share their opinions and ask their own questions. The children will also complete an activity each week. This could be a personal response, making a short comic strip, a non-fiction writing response, or an art lesson based on an animal or fantasy creature from the text. These will be paper, pencil, scissors, glue stick type of activities and will be posted in the classroom prior to class. Please note that depending on the learner, they may not finish the class activity during the allotted class time.
Each class is independent so you can join or leave the club whenever you wish.
