Hello!
This is a FUN class! Children love learning about different text forms and it is exciting for them to write their own. In my opinion, it's the best way to unleash creativity, confidence and excitement in both reluctant and gifted writers! Children will learn that writing has a purpose! Whether you learner is a reluctant, at grade-level or advanced writer, this class will develop your child's sense of different text forms and show them how they can write these same kinds of pieces. Knowing about different forms of writing unleashes confidence, creativity and student-voice while practicing critical skills like spelling, punctuation, using graphic organizers and story development. There are 10 topics in this ongoing course. Each lesson is independent. You may decide to enroll your child in one, several or all 10 of the lessons. A different writing form will be highlighted each week. As well, I will do a focused writing skill such as how to spell unknown words or a punctuation convention in each lesson. Learners will have time for independent practice with teacher support. At the end of class, students will be encouraged to share their writing and to provide peer feedback. Learners may require some time after class to finish their writing. This course is appropriate for First to Third Grade learners. I will accommodate individual needs. I will provide individual written feedback to any learners who send me an upload of their work. Again, this is a FUN class! I would love to meet your little writer soon.
