Description
Class Experience
Speeches all types - how to write amazing speeches - and all parts of presenting a great speech or debate! This course will look at informative, expository, oratory, persuasive, oratory, debate, and commentary speaking styles. The class will cover how to present (delivery) your speech, how to write, research, using logic/reasoning, and recording 3 to 6 minute speeches.
Being a Flex Class students are able to work on their own weekly schedule. There are a couple of specific due dates to allow other students to respond in the discussion board and etc. Weekly Discussion Questions (Seminar Style or Helpful Collaborative Group Sharing and Thinking). The Discussion question or topic will be posted the Sunday before the week that we are on. Please provide your discussion comment by Wednesday of that week and please respond to at least two of your classmates by the Friday within that week. Responses to other classmates will change from class to class depending on how many students are in the class. Most weeks of the course we will have a recorded speech that students can record and send within our Outschool Classroom. The recording ability includes video, which will all me to watch the speeches. Our weekly speeches should be between 3 to 6 minutes. If a speech is over that is totally fine. The goal being we reach about one minute per speech paragraph or topic.
Technology - A computer or IPad/Tablet to access the internet, Outschool, our Outschool discussion board, the weekly videos Mr. G will post, and recording our speeches in Outschool.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal and formal assessments weekly. Students will be assessed through the discussion board and learning activities that occur each week. The main formal assessment is from the recorded speech that students preform, record, and send to me. Each week I will review the speech providing feedback of amazing strengths the student is showing, areas that improved from week to week, and focus on a couple of items to further develop delivery, content, and speaking abilities.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
