Hello and Welcome to Mr. G's Marvelous Writing Class - Conclusions!

Writing is one of the greatest and essential ways to communicate, and I am excited to be offering a one time twenty minute class on writing conclusions for academic or creative writing. One of the main challenges students sometimes will face in middle or high school is writing an amazing conclusions. In our class we will cover Mr. G's Model to writing amazing conclusions that go beyond a summary by exploring future aspects of the topic. The most common aspect that readers will remember the most is the introduction and conclusions. Our course will focus on amazing topics sentences for conclusions using many of the same devices we might for a hook in an introduction. Examples in include: Concluding with a question, using data or statistics, quotes, painting a picture for the reader, using figurative devices (metaphor, simile, hyperbole, idiom, Onomatopoeia), alliteration, and/or leading your audience to the future importance or aspects of the topic. Or if you are into creative writing covering the resolution part of the rising action and creating a cliff hanger for the next chapter of the story. 

Structure of the lesson:
1. Start off with introductions - Mr. G is a published writer and podcaster who lives in Alaska of all places!
2. Discuss and learn about awesome conclusions and methods to writing outstanding conclusions. 
3. Students will have a chance to practice coming up with some topic sentences for conclusions.
4. Learn how to summarize the main points you discussed in your paper without sounding like a summary. 
5. Learn how to really go beyond summary into future aspects of your topic.
