US Grade 4 - 6
This is a book club for Prince Caspian (Chronicles of Narnia #4) by C.S. Lewis. Each time, we will focus on 4 chapters of the book, discussing the story, learning the vocabulary and taking a comprehension quiz for the assigned chapters. Students will read assigned chapters for each class, completing the book by the end of the course. They should come ready to discuss the chapters and answer comprehension questions each week. The last two times will be spent working to create and present a book report on this book. We play Kahoot! for comprehension questions and Quizlet and play Quizlet Live for the vocabulary. Students should come ready for friendly competition in these fun games. Day 1: Introduction--meet each other, as well as intro to Narnia & author C.S. Lewis. Review vocabulary for chapters 1-4. Day 2: Students will read chapters 1-4 to be prepared for class. We will do a comprehension activity using Kahoot! on these chapters and learn vocabulary for chapters 5-8. Day 3: Comprehension activity and discussion on chapters 5-8. Introduce vocabulary for 9-12. Day 4: Comprehension activity and discussion on chapters 9-12. Introduce vocabulary for 13-15. Day 5: Comprehension activity and discussion on chapters 13-15. Lesson on writing a Book Report, making a Character Sketch on a character of their choice from the book. Day 6: Everyone reads their Book Report to the class, final vocabulary and comprehension games *Please don't hesitate to sign up! Please note that I can only run the class if there is a minimum of 3 people signed up 24 hours before the start time. Tell your friends about it! This is a fun class to take with friends.*
Learning Goals
Students will learn vocabulary before reading the chapters, helping them to understand the book easily. The students will also be tested each week on their comprehension of the chapters, so they'll have to pay close attention to what they're reading. Finally, they will write a book report, creating a character sketch on a character from the book.

Hello! I am excited to be your child's teacher.
I love to teach in any capacity: especially reading, writing and grammar classes.
Teaching is my passion! I have been teaching for 23 years everything from early childhood to college & adults. Not only have I taught in elementary schools, but I have been homeschooling my children for the past 12 years and working in several homeschool coops as well. For my career, I teach English as a Second Language to adults.
I am very familiar with the ins and outs of the English language, from the basics of phonics & reading to college writing, and everything in between! (Like past participles 😄) My philosophy of education is that every child can learn! I would love to work with your child and help them succeed! Even if your child is not reading or writing in a way you would like, they are amazing & smart! Education is a tool to help them share what they know with the world! Let's get started!
