In this 5 session course, we will learn the vocabulary, read and discuss The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe and end the class by writing and presenting a book report.
Class experience
US Grade 4 - 6
This is a book club for The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia #2) by C.S. Lewis. Each time, we will focus on 4 chapters of the book, discussing the story, learning the vocabulary and taking a comprehension quiz for the assigned chapters. Students will read assigned chapters for each class, completing the book by the end of the course. They should come ready to discuss the chapters and answer comprehension questions each week. The last two times will be spent working to...
Students will learn vocabulary before reading the chapters, helping them to understand the book easily. The students will also be tested each week on their comprehension of the chapters, so they'll have to pay close attention to what they're reading. Finally, they will write a book report, pulling out the main ideas from the book.
Homework Offered
Students will need to read about 4 chapters of the book each week and come prepared to discuss and answer comprehension questions on the book. They can also study their vocabulary on Quizlet. The last week, they will need to write a book report (however, they won't have any chapters to read that week).2 - 4 hours per week outside of class

Students will need to obtain their own copy of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis and read or listen to it throughout the course as assigned. We use the online programs: Quizlet and Kahoot! There is no need to download these apps. A website and code will be provided. The student should either use a separate device or use the split screen feature when using Kahoot.
This class covers vocabulary and basic comprehension of the story line and does not deal with allegorical themes.
