Class Experience

**No Experience Required!**

In this course, students will use Google Sheets to create a fun pixel art puzzle. Students will first complete a puzzle that I have created to give students a sense of what a pixel art puzzle looks like. Next, students will start to create their own puzzle by coming up with a list of trivia questions with answers. I will then show students how to use the conditional formatting feature of Google Sheets to display whether the answer is correct or incorrect. After creating their trivia questions, I will demonstrate to the students how to make their own pixel art. I will teach students how to make different shapes and shading techniques to make their pixel art come alive. Once students have created their pixel art, we will practice using the conditional formatting feature again to allow their pixel art to appear with each correct answer to their trivia questions. At the end of class, students will have their very own pixel art puzzle to show off to their friends and family!

Overall, this course will teach students the basics spreadsheets and how to create pixel art as well as provide an introduction to computer science. This course is perfect for any student with artistic talents, a knack for puzzles, and/or an interest in computers!

I use Google Sheets frequently to create many of my assignments for class because there are so many ways to make them fun and interactive. Because I believe learning spreadsheets is such a valuable skill, I would like to share my knowledge of how to use spreadsheets in new and interesting ways with students.
