Do you love Minecraft and want to go beyond the game? Join us for some Minecraft inspired fun each week. Using everyone's interest in Minecraft as the starting point, I will get the students thinking and puzzling in new and interesting ways, playing with words and ideas. Best of all, we will be working our brains while having lots of fun together - my favorite way to teach! Here's an outline of what to expect during our meetings. I start by introducing the project/game, and then everyone has a chance to participate in the activity. I emphasize that taking turns and listening to others is just as important as contributing one's own ideas. Week 1: ABC's of Minecraft Week 2: write your own Minecraft poetry - acrostic and haiku Week 3: learn how to solve Minecraft sudoku puzzles Week 4: make and solve Minecraft word search puzzles My teaching style is positive, fun and relaxed. I make sure every student is included. And of course, we have fun! This is a structured class with a weekly activity. If your student is looking to just chat about Minecraft, check out my chat classes which might be a better fit. I can't wait to see you in class! Note: We will not be playing Minecraft in class, but instead we will do Minecraft inspired activities. You do not need to play Minecraft to enjoy this class, but it will help to be familiar with the characters at least.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Kenyon College
When my children were younger, they were hyper focused on particular topics. At one point, the obsession was Minecraft. I was able to build off that interest to introduce many other topics and ideas. Because they loved Minecraft, they didn't really notice I was shifting the topic slightly. To them, we were playing, but to me, we were learning important critical thinking skills. These skills were able to transfer over and grow when the interest changed from Minecraft to trains to coins to stamps. I have taught over 5,000 students on Outschool!
