Logic puzzle games form the bedrock of children's cognitive growth, nurturing their problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and the ability to think critically – essential skills that empower them to navigate complex academic tasks and life's puzzles with ease. This class is the perfect choice for learners who relish a good challenge and have a passion for puzzles. Whether your learner loves cracking complex logic puzzles or is a budding puzzle enthusiast, they'll find this course both stimulating and rewarding. It's also an ideal fit for gifted children looking to further sharpen their critical thinking skills while having a blast with like-minded peers. Every week, we will learn the basic rules and strategies for one unique puzzle game. They will then work on sample puzzles independently with real-time guidance whenever needed. We will also reinforce what we learn through some mini games! We'll use Nearpod or Google Jamboard for interactive solving! Puzzles will repeat after 14 weeks! We are going to cover these puzzles: Week of April 07: Star Battle Week of April 14: Minesweeper Week of April 21: Jigsaw Sudoku Week of April 28: Aquarium Week of May 05: Skyscraper Week of May 12: Snake Week of May 19: Crypto Week of May 26: Numberlink Week of June 02: Picture Cross Week of June 09: Classic Sudoku Week of June 16: Easy as ABC Week of June 23: Battleship Week of June 30: Different Neighbors Week of July 07: Sumdoku Week of July 14: Star Battle - There is no homework, however sometimes practice puzzles might be provided at the end of each class. Solving them is optional. - The class materials are designed to fit within 40 minutes; however, sometimes learners would like to take longer to solve their puzzles. They are welcome to stay for an additional 5-10 minutes after the sessions end, but this is absolutely optional and only done if it is okay with everyone's schedules.
Learning Goals
Develop and strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving abilities and logical reasoning while practicing time management, perseverance and resilience.
