Hello! My name is Miss Jen. I can't wait to meet you! Thank you for visiting my classroom.
EXPERIENCE:
I am a certified teacher in grades K-6 in the state of Florida. I completed student teaching in a first grade classroom, and that is where I found my passion for working with young learners in the primary grades. I am passionate about building the foundational skills and early literacy skills that are essential as learners grow.
Before having my two daughters, I worked for Huntington Learning Center for over a year tutoring students of all ages in reading and studying techniques. I then began teaching ESL students online, and received my 120 hr TESOL certification. I have been teaching on Outschool for over two years.
I have a Masters degree in Business Administration, as well as, a B.A. in Elementary Education K-6, and a B.S. in Hospitality
In the Spring of 2023 I began my training in Orton Gillingham
I follow Science of Reading instructional procedures in accordance to recent studies and best practices, to ensure the most effective results in reading outcomes.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
My teaching philosophy centers around creating a student-centered learning environment that promotes critical thinking, fosters a love for learning, and prepares students for lifelong success. I believe in the importance of cultivating a positive and inclusive classroom community where every student feels valued and supported.
A LITTLE MORE ABOUT ME:
I live in Florida with my husband and two daughters. I enjoy going to the beach and the movies. We also enjoy traveling and going to waterparks!
Parents please message me any time with any questions or concerns. If you have any requests for times or certain classes please let me know. I am very flexible and would love to help in any way I can.
MY CLASSROOM POLICIES
MUTING: I try my best not to mute learners. It is my goal to have all learners unmuted at all times during class and to use classroom management techniques to provide for a quality learning experience. However, sometimes if there is a lot of background noise I will have to mute the learner to provide that quality experience that is expected.
REFUNDS: I follow Outschool's refund policy. I will message parents if there is a low enrollment class (1 learner), to see if their learner will still like to come to class. In this case, if the learner does not want to be the only student I will refund the class. I always teach class even with one learner. However, I understand that some learners do not want to be the only student in class.
TEACHER CANCELLATION: I try my very best to give at least 24 hours notice if I have to cancel class. I do not like to disappoint any learners last minute, unless there is an emergency. If it is last minute all learners will be refunded.
TECHNOLOGY PROBLEMS: I will do my best to quickly help learners fix easy tech problems in class. However, since there are usually other learners in class I can not spend a lot of time. Please contact Outschool immediately if you are having a problem. I understand that things happen. They even happen to me at times! Outschool tech support will help you.
LEARNER LATE POLICY: I start all of my lessons promptly at class start time. I understand things happen and all learners will always be welcomed with a smile, even if they are late. However, no refunds are given if late, and no unpaid transfers.
LEARNER NO SHOW: I wait 10 minutes for all learners in class. If no learners show at 10 minutes class will be closed. No refunds are given. Please communicate with me if there is an emergency and you can not attend class.
