Learn to Read W/Phonics, Sight Words, & Friends! Lev 2-1st - 3rd English-Summer
In this 3x a week class we will improve our phonics skills, combine letters to make digraphs and diphthongs learn long and short vowel sounds, and memorize a new group of sight words weekly. We will also be reading stories and articles.
Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
In this ongoing 3-day-a-week class, Students reading at 1st and 2nd-grade levels (may also be appropriate for a 3rd grader that needs some extra support) will work toward the ultimate goal of becoming an independent reader while also making friends in a cheerful classroom environment. Frequency: Available upon requestFeedback: Available upon requestDetails: A weekly at-home packet will also be provided after the first class of every week so that students can practice what they have been learning in the classroom. The after-class work is provided as an enhancement to the class, not as a homework requirement. I will leave it up to the parents' discretion if they feel their students will benefit from the after-class activities.Assessment
Frequency: Available upon requestDetails: Learners will be assessed throughout the classes. The teacher will email individualized feedback for every student at the end of each week to keep the parents informed on their students' progress.
Learners should come to class with either the teacher provided class print-outs or plain paper with a dark pencil, marker, or pen. Students may also use a dry erase board if they prefer. From time-to-time, we may use blank index cards to make flashcards that can be used in class for games and at home for practice.
