Learn to Read - Blending and Reading CVC and CCVC Words

I designed this class so that your child can start learning to read by recognizing letter patterns within word family words and by blending letter sounds together to read and write CVC and CCVC words. Students will gain experience in sounding out words, blending, reading, and writing. We will have a new set of word family words every week. Students will practice these new words together by completing a few different activities. We will read a short story that includes all of our new words too! I create every activity and story for these lessons myself.

I will upload the documents I have created for the week the day before our class meets each time so you can print them for your learner to follow along and complete each activity with me. These are great for putting together in a notebook or keeping in a folder so students can continue to practice all of the words they have learned. Continued practice at home is desired and helpful for the words to stick in students memories, just a few minutes of practice each day would be perfect!

If you cannot print our class materials, please do not worry, students will still get lots of practice in class. Your child may bring some paper and something to write with if they would like to. In order for students to have the benefit of writing practice in our class, they will need to bring something to write with and something to write on. If you are able to print the class materials, that is all your child needs to bring for "something to write on".

Once we have completed all of our activities, we will play a game using our new words too! 

This class is for early readers who need practice with blending letter sounds together to read words or for early readers who need additional practice with reading and writing CVC and CCVC words.
