Description

Class Experience

Students will have *exposure* to the below learning goals but not mastery, given the course timeframe:

1.	Discuss emotions and recognize how they are linked to behavior.  
2.	Define emotions discussed and what a mindset is.
3.	Develop self-awareness and self-management skills through exploring emotional strategies and mindset. 
4.	Listen to others with care, speaking one at a time about the topics and text.
5.	Build on conversations by responding to the comments of others.
I have taught many lessons centered on social skills. I feel it's important to create a space for learners to share their ideas about emotions and problem-solving, as these conversations help empower. In particular, I enjoy engaging students through read alouds. Using 'Mindful Mantras' as a mentor text provides a wonderful framework to guide these discussions. 
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
