Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
This class is designed to support learners in expanding their understanding of Mindfulness & Art practices and nature topics while strengthening their social-emotional skills.

In each class we'll explore Mindfulness and Process Art activities alongside nature and art concepts. Learners can expect to experience dynamic visual elements, stories & poems and/or games during each class meeting. Details about specific supplies, materials and ideas for setting up the invitations to explore will be shared on the Monday before each class. Please contact anytime for additional support!

Each session offers a 9-week cycle of topics to explore. While these topics repeat with each session, the details and class experiences will be unique and you can expect a seasonally-inspired experience with each session.

Learners are welcome to join and leave the session as needed (Totally fine to enroll late and/or only do a few class meetings)!

✨CLASS FLOW
*times are approximate and depend on class size, but the majority of the class time will always be dedicated to Mindfulness & Process Art activities*

0-5 minutes opening Mindfulness activities such as deep breaths and mindful movement / stretching

5-10 min: Invitation for learners to share about what materials they've brought to class

10-40 min: Process Art + Mindfulness activities and prompts, mini-art lessons/experiments and nature explorations

40-45 min: sharing and/or closing Mindfulness activity

In each class students will have the option to share thoughts and creations with the group, but if they choose not to that is absolutely fine. I will be considerate of everyone's time, and make sure all voices are heard in a way that is equitable.

______________________________________________________________________________

✨Mindfulness activities including breathwork, gentle stretching, sensory-based explorations, meditations, positive affirmations, and/or "Mindful Matching" games that combine English Language Arts skills with art and mindfulness activities.

✨ Process Art is art exploration that is self-directed, choice-driven and celebrates the experience of discovery. In process art the final product is always unique, and the focus is the creation not the outcome. Process art is rooted in Mindfulness, and builds skills in creative thinking, problem solving, confidence and experimentation. ✨

My teaching by style is informed by the Reggio Emilia Approach and arts-integrated education principles. I always aim to honor each learner's unique abilities and facilitate class experiences that are joyful and inspiring.
