Do you or your l student need 1:1 tutoring? Is writing a struggle and feedback difficult to come by? Developed for my students here on Outschool who have asked for a one-on-one learning opportunity, our tutoring sessions are custom created for your individual and specific needs. We'll begin with a conversation about where you feel you need the most help and build our sessions together from there. 1:1 tutoring sessions can cover: -help developing a specific project or assignment from start to finish -help with a semester or school year's worth of curriculum assigned from an educational source like a charter or brick-and-mortar school -help with individual needs, such as working on essay development or punctuation and grammar issues -any full course that I offer here, such as my Essentials for Reluctant Writers, How to Read Literature Like a Professor, or When Women Write courses, but in a one-on-one set-up rather than with classmates -one-on-one reading of a novel that you feel you just need help analyzing or want to discuss with a teacher I'll dive into my resources, which include but are not limited to: -short-write prompts -note-taking skills -outlining and structure -grammar, syntax, form, and editing skills -writing with your audience in mind -analyzing literature -literary devices -Socratic discussion Once we pinpoint what your needs are, we can get to work! And really, these are tutoring sessions for you, so everything we set out to accomplish will be with your needs in mind. Where can we go with effort and encouragement? The sky's the limit! This is an ongoing, weekly session, but you are welcome to start and stop at any time. Day and time of sessions will be determined by your schedule and my availability.
Learning Goals
For native English speakers, our tutoring sessions will focus on improving the areas in which they do not feel confident. For ELA students, we will work on improving their ability to listen and speak English in a conversational, casual setting. I will often point out the differences in English spoken around the world. When mispronunciations are made, I am gentle and kind in my correction. I want your student to succeed and feel very comfortable with English as a world communicator!
