Mrs. Fimbel is a math enthusiast and has taught Elementary students for 10 years. She has taught this class as part of an interdisciplinary enrichment group in public school for 3 years.
Between weeks 3 and 4 learners will be asked to create their own word problem(s) for the class to solve. Although this is optional, it will help students feel more confident in tackling future word problems.
Paper and pencils or electronic device that learner can write and draw with.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No formal assessments will be done in this class. This is a stress free class for learners who are either struggling with math and need support to gain confidence, or younger advance math enthusiasts who want a challenge.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Occationally when students are creating problems or drawing pictures to help solve problems there may be comments or ideas shared that may differ from the views of others in the class. Please discuss how to handle these situations with your learner before class.
