Description

Class Experience

Students will be able to manipulate 3D shapes to create a simple house, tree, or other simple design in TinkerCad.
I have taught students in 3rd-5th grade the basics of TinkerCad for several years as part of an interdisciplinary project at my brick and mortar school. I recently presented about this project at the Texas Computer Educators Association convention.
Students will be encouraged to continue to create on TinkerCad and to discover how TinkerCad can be used to design for Minecraft.
Students will need a parent created account on https://www.tinkercad.com/ and will need to be logged in before class starts. TinkerCAD is COPPA Compliant resource see this article for more information: https://blog.tinkercad.com/2013/07/30/whats-up-with-education-accounts. If a temporary account is needed while waiting for a parent-approved account for kids under 13 please message me for information. These temporary accounts will be deleted without notice frequently to ensure student safety and to comply with Outschool standards. Paper and pencils are often useful for sketching ideas.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The teacher will help students identify strengths and weakness in learner's projects if desired.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please create an account at Tinkercad.com for your learner. Learners must have INDIVIDUAL accounts which require parent approval. There is no class code for this course. Students will creating using their own accounts.
