Mastering the Alphabet (Flexible Schedule)

This is a five-week course on letter recognition and letter sounds! 

Throughout the course, I will cover a range of topics, including letter recognition, letter sounds, letter formation, and handwriting. Each week, we will focus on five letters (the fifth week we will learn 6) and learners will participate in a variety of interactive activities designed to reinforce their understanding of the topic.  We will go in alphabetical order for this class.

The class is structured in a way that promotes active learning and engagement. Each video will begin with a brief lecture and demonstration of the week's topic.  The learners will be able to follow along with me as I go through the activity.  Each video will be in the classroom no later than 9 am central time.  Learners will then have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, such as games, and puzzles, that allow them to practice what they've learned in a fun and interactive way.

My teaching style is supportive, interactive, and engaging. I prioritize creating a positive learning environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and participating in the activities.

No prior experience or knowledge is necessary for this course. I welcome learners of all skill levels and backgrounds who are interested in improving their letter recognition and letter sound skills.

Each week we will follow the same schedule and I will provide a video lesson or explanation of the activities:

Monday:  Video introduction of the letters for the week.  We will use alphabet mats to match the uppercase and lowercase letters. We will also discuss each letter and encourage learners to repeat the letter name and sound.

Tuesday:  This will be our multiday sensory day.  The learners will practice writing or tracing the letters.  They may use shaving cream, tactile letters, play-doh, etc. to form the letters. 

Wednesday:  The learners will practice the sounds of the letters.  We will use our alphabet mats or letter cards with either pictures of objects that start with the letters or object found in their home. 

Thursday:  I will send an interactive puzzle on Google Slides that the learners can match the uppercase and lower case letters.

Friday:  Let's celebrate what we learned!  Every Friday we will practice our alphabet fluency and see how many letters we know from that week.

Week 3:  Letter names and sounds of K, L, M, N, O
Week 4:  Letter names and sounds of P, Q, R, S, T
