In this interactive, alphabet-themed cooking class, young learners will have fun making a delicious breakfast, snack, lunch, or dessert! This is camp-style twist on my ongoing course. This camp will occur multiple weeks, and each week will focus on different letters and recipes, so you can sign up for more than 1 week without fear of repeating! Recipe names will be posted at least 1 week in advance in the class description for planning purposes. Ingredient lists will be provided a week before camp to allow for ample time to gather necessary ingredients. Fancy kitchen equipment and experience are not necessary. Recipes will be kid-friendly without too many complicated ingredients, but young learners may still need some assistance. Recipes will also be able to be altered to meet dietary restrictions as needed. Each day, I will introduce the letter of the alphabet we are focusing on. Learners will participate in a fun activity, game, or song about the focus letter. Then, we will prep, create, and (if it does not need additional setting time) taste our treats! The time required to prepare the recipes each week may vary slightly, depending on the number of learners enrolled and their age/ability level, but I hope to have some sharing time embedded in the class as well. This is a great way to encourage your child to try different foods and flavors they may not otherwise be interested in! Helping in the kitchen develops so many different skills for young children, such as: -Direction following -Kitchen and cooking skills and safety -Ingredient knowledge -Fine motor skills -Measuring -Science concepts *Sibling discount available - please message me!* The class is set to 6 students to provide for a small group class, however, if you are looking to sign up as siblings and only see 1 spot left, please message me so I can open a spot for sibling(s). First-time registrants: use code SLESSCOOK4 to get a discount on your first class with me. Class Schedule: Week of June 12: Letters M-P Week of July 3: Letters Q-T Week of July 31: Letters A-D Week of August 14: Letters E-H Week of August 28: Letters U-Z All classes will begin promptly at start time.

Parental Guidance
Recipes will be fairly simple and kid-friendly, but some parental guidance may still be necessary, and more for younger students. Parents should always provide supervision and guidance when an appliance or some kitchen utensils are used.
It is also recommended that a clean, reachable workstation be set up for your learner, whether at a table or counter space.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello! I am Ms. Katie. I teach classes of different interests and topics for young learners. I have a passion for this age group and love to interact with my students in fun and engaging ways!
I believe that learning should be FUN and that even our youngest learners should have the opportunity to express themselves while developing and following their own interests. I strive to make my classroom a safe, engaging space where all learners feel comfortable doing so. I also believe in tailoring learning to a student's development, interests, and abilities. I have enjoyed the freedom to provide such educational experiences to my own children whom I homeschool, and love doing the same for my learners now on Outschool!
I have taught in a variety of settings and environments for the last 13 years. I have been a teacher for over 10 years. I spent 9 years in the public education system as a classroom teacher, 3 in 3rd grade and 6 in Kindergarten. I taught the entire 2020-21 school year virtually, to 50 Kindergarten students! I have years of experience in learning support, gifted support, autism support, emotional support. I have also helped to run an outdoor, nature-centered camp for children ages 4-14. I served as an Envirothon coach for grades 3 and 4, and helped to start and run a "Storybook STEM" club for elementary aged children. I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education and my Master's Degree in Education. I am also a Google Certified Educator.
On a personal note, I love being outside, hiking, reading, traveling, baking, and being a mom to my own 3 young children who also love to take classes on Outschool.
