Kitoodle Creators presents this 2-class session, which is part of a series of kitchen science sessions that teach concepts in chemistry, biology, math and art through making treats! Classes will teach the basics in kitchen use and kitchen safety, various appliances and tools of chefs, and the steps on how to go from a recipe to a finished treat! Students will learn science behind the baking magic AND witness the transformation of the ingredients -> it's all a very hands-on interactive learning experience! 

In this class we'll be making tasty cookies decorated in creative Halloween themes.

Learning Goals

1. Introduction to all ingredients and where they come from.
2. Basics of Kitchen use including how to use appliances and meaure.

Lesson 1:
Pastries Science Part 1
 Create and bake cookies, learn about the ingredients and where they come from.

Pastries Science Part 2
 Decorate cookies and learn about the science behind royal icing and how temperature affects the cookie ingredients.

Ingredients requested on the food list may include possible allergens such as nuts, wheat, dairy, eggs, or soy. Parents may substitute allergen-free ingredients if the student has an allergy. Please note that some of the foods may turn out differently than intended if an ingredient is substituted.
