In this extension of writers workshop for 2nd grade, we will work to build on the skills learned throughout writers workshop and develop more strength in writing structure and writing style.

We will be exploring how to add sensory details into our writing, by creating a sensory writing chart after reading an example narrative writing.

We will be working on a narrative writing, with a focus on adding sensory details.

Applying sensory details into our writing

We will be editing several example writing pieces, focusing on punctuation and grammar. We will also be doing an activity on how to swap boring descriptive words into eye catching words.

We will be doing an activity on finding inspiration for writing. We will be focused on pulling creativity through every day experiences in order to promote growth in free writing.

We will be completing various exercises to determine which writing style you tend to gravitate towards, this will encourage us to find more inspiration in writing through exploring various styles.

We will be completing an opinion writing on swimming in the ocean vs swimming in pools.
