US Grade 2
In this continuation of writers workshop, we will continue working to strengthen our skills in both writing structure and style. We will continue working with the 4 main writing styles: narrative, expository, informative and opinion. As we continue refining our skills, we will be completing fun and interactive writing exercises while focusing on strengthening our knowledge from writers workshop.
Learning Goals
Students will continue to improve their writing skills within the 4 main styles: narrative, informative, expository, and opinion writing. We will be focusing on growing in confidence with writing style and structure.Syllabus
9 Lessons
over 3 WeeksLesson 1:
A deeper dive into sensory details
We will be exploring how to add sensory details into our writing, by creating a sensory writing chart after reading an example narrative writing. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Applying sensory details into our writing
We will be working on a narrative writing, with a focus on adding sensory details. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Grammar editing and word swapping
We will be editing several example writing pieces, focusing on punctuation and grammar. We will also be doing an activity on how to swap boring descriptive words into eye catching words. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Finding inspiration for writing
We will be doing an activity on finding inspiration for writing. We will be focused on pulling creativity through every day experiences in order to promote growth in free writing. 45 mins online live lesson

Supply List
Students will need to have their own writers notebook (a standard - lined paper notebook or composition book will do) but please make sure it is lined paper! **Some weeks of class may require students to be able to print out worksheets that I will provide in the online classroom**
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
