Class Experience

US Grade 3

In our 10 week long class, we will meet 2 times a week, for 30 minutes each session. Below is our full curriculum plan, in which will cover throughout our 10 weeks together. Content will be learned through interactive powerpoint presentations, activities, and critical thinking exercises. Learning is all about using strategies that feel the best to us as individuals, and in this class we I will personalize and prioritize students individual learning needs. 

**This is a 1 on 1 class**


Operations and Algebraic Thinking
Represent and solve problems using the four operations (within 100) with a focus on strategy and understanding of word problems:
-	Multiplication 
-	Division 
-	Addition 
-	Subtraction

Numbers and Operations using Base Ten
-	Place value
	- identifying place value within 6-digit numbers 
	- writing numbers in expanded form 
	- writing numbers in word form 
-	Strategy using the base ten model
-	Solving using the correct order of operations (PEMDAS)

Number and Operations as Fractions
-	Understanding fractions as numbers
-	Using number lines to understand and identify fractions
-	Comparing fractions relative to their size, with other fractions
-	Simplifying fractions
-	Introduction to adding / subtracting fractions with like denominators
-	Partitioning a circle 

Measurement and Data
-	Working with money 
-	Graphing (bar graphs, picture graphs, and scatter plots)
-	Measurements of area and perimeter
-	Using rounding and estimation for:
	-time
	-measurements by ruler
	-measurements by liquid / mass

Geometry 
-	Partitioning shapes into parts with equal areas
-	Identifying attributes of shapes (faces, vertices, angles, parallel lines)
-	Acute, obtuse, and right angles

Supply List

Students will need a small white board and marker, as well as the ability to (at times) be able to print out free worksheets for specific lessons. Any required worksheets will be sent through the online classroom.
