Let’s Get Writing! Writers Workshop | 2nd and 3rd Grade

In this 8 week writers workshop, we will be focused on growing in our confidence and strength as writers. We will be building from the foundation up, as we learn strategies to strengthen our writing as we go. Learners will be giving all of the tools to grow in their ability to write, with the goal of producing writing / stories that align with the main 4 types of writing we look at in grades 2 and 3:
narrative, informative, expository, and opinion.

Writing is all about letting your creativity blossom, this class is all about growth and having fun along the way! 

Our weekly breakdown will go as follows: 

Week 1 - Narrative Writing 

Week 2- Narrative Writing 

Week 3- Informative Writing

Week 4- Informative Writing

Week 5- Expository Writing

Week 6- Expository Writing 

Week 7- Opinion Writing 

Week 8- Opinion Writing 


Each of the 4 main writing styles will have 2 weeks of focus, with the first week being focused on learning the style and practicing with / exploring the style. The second week will be when we put each style to work and create our writing pieces. Students will be using multiple methods of practice and will be given many examples to immerse into each of the styles. We will have activities based around read aloud books, where students will be able to hear and see real stories written in the style we are focusing on for the week. 

This class will run for 8 weeks, and will then repeat 🔁
