Let's Do This Pre-Algebra Style: Simple Probability and Statistics
This 9-week course will help your student understand the concept of probability, and how to express answers in fraction, decimal or percent form. The student will also use measures of central tendency to analyze data and construct graphs.
Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 7
I will provide the notes, examples, activities and directions needed to seamlessly follow through each lesson. The student will be encouraged to take notes as they move through the lessons as this will help them understand the examples and complete the puzzles, and I will respond to any questions that may be posted via Outschool messages. There will be 9 lessons total, with each lesson being posted on Sundays by 12 noon (Eastern Standard Time) for families opting for weekly lessons. The...

This class is taught in English.
- In this FLEX class, students will: -convert fractions to decimals and percents -simplify fractions, use equivalent fractions to find percents -use whole number operations to find mean, median, and range -strengthen math vocabulary (quartiles, outliers, maximum, etc.) -analyze and display data
I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics as well as a Master's Degree in Education with a concentration in STEM. I have created and collected a wide variety of resources to help students engage in a fun and comfortable way while building a strong foundation in mathematics. With 20 years of experience teaching in the classroom coupled with 5+ years of experience teaching online to students with varying abilities and needs, I feel extremely qualified to deliver this instruction to learners via Outschool.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Homework
Frequency: includedFeedback: includedDetails: Homework will be to complete the activities of each lesson prior to beginning the next lesson.Assessment
Frequency: includedDetails: The student will have the option of submitting work to the classroom for feedback (typically provided within 24 hours). For certain lessons, a decoder puzzle will be attached so the student can track their own progress.
It would be nice for students to have a three-ring binder in order to keep track of assignments and notes each week. I will provide a PDF via Outschool messages that will explain to students what needs to be for the week (objective, discussion question, notes and assessment). A calculator and graph paper would be nice items to have, however, when possible, I will suggest websites that may have the tools that a learner may need (example: online calculators).
