An (optional) assessment will be provided with each lesson. Any feedback desired or questions will (typically) be answered within 24 hours.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
How are math and science related? This course will provide the student with engaging activities to make this connection! I will provide the notes, examples, activities and directions needed to seamlessly follow through each lesson. The student will be encouraged to take notes as they move through the lessons as this will help them understand the examples and complete the puzzles. I will respond to any questions, typically within 24 hours. The suggested completion time is within 8 weeks; however, time can be extended as needed. By the end of the course, the student should have a stronger foundation of math skills common to the field of science. This is the second of a series of "Crossing the Curriculum" classes. It was developed based on the success of my first series, "Crossing the Curriculum: Math Meets Architecture".
Learning Goals
The student will:
-GCF to simplify fractions/LCM to add and subtract fractions
-learn about events and outcomes to calculate probability of an event
-evaluate expressions
-use inverse operations to solve equations
-evaluate exponential expressions

Supply List
Students should have a three-ring binder in order to keep track of assignments and notes each week. I will provide a PDF via Outschool messages that will explain to students what needs to be for the week (objective, discussion question, video, practice and assessment). A calculator and graph paper would be nice items to have, however, when possible, I will suggest websites that may have the tools that a learner may need (example: online calculators).
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
