Students will learn the story of Macbeth and feel empowered to truly understand Shakespeare's language, his poetic style, and his insights into human nature.
Prior to joining Outschool in 2020, I was a classroom teacher of middle school and high school specializing in senior level English for more than 20 years. I have taught Shakespearean texts to students from grade 7 to 12. I have a bachelor's degree in English from Trent University in Ontario, Canada and a bachelor's of Education from the University of Western Sydney in Australia.
Homework Offered
Guided questions based on the material read in class. Occasional self-directed reading at home of a scene or two. An optional project that can suit students interest and skill level best. It can be a formal written essay or a creative project. This will be determined collaboratively with the students.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students are assessed informally each class through questioning and discussion. The optional final project will provide an opportunity for a more formal assessment.Grades Offered
A PDF text of the play as well as a package of guided reading questions will be provided by the teacher.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The play presents violent imagery and mature themes about life, death, good and evil that some students may find upsetting.
The teacher will provide a PDF of the text of the play that students can view or print if they would like a hard copy.
