In this ongoing class, students will learn about different science topics by creating the topic of the class using modeling clay.

Class experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Students will learn about different science concepts through a combination of mini-lessons and exploration into creating different science topics, assisting students with key vocabulary in the science field.
I am an elementary and middle school teacher, and have taught middle school science for 8 years from 6-8th grade. I am licensed as a science teacher from 6-12 grade, with a Masters in Science Education. I like making learning relate to real world experiences so students can connect to material easier than standard memorization. I review in a flow pattern that starts with basic information and expands into complex information to assist students with retention.
Homework Offered
Students will receive a practice sheet after each class to review the concept they learned about, as well as a Kahoot! game link for assessment and interaction.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will receive a Kahoot! link for assessment and interaction, and scores are available for immediate review as it is a review game website.
Grades Offered
Students will need a variety of clay/dough colors for each week's lesson. While no specific color is required, some of these projects will involve layering, so multiple colors is needed to model correctly. The brand of modeling clay is at the discretion of the family for creations to be permanent or temporary. Suggested colors will be provided weekly, but are not required.

Students will be given a notetaker with answer key for their records. This is not required for class, but is supplemental to support learning.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will create various science concepts through the use of modeling clay/dough. This will allow for a hands on learning experience.

Students will be given a link for a Kahoot! review game each week to review the lesson for retention and mastery. No subscription is required.
Students will use Kahoot! for review, as well as playdoh for activities. Handouts will be provided by the teacher and created by the teacher.
