Class Experience

US Grade 5
From the air we breathe to the food we eat, science is all around us. The kids will learn about different life science concepts which include ecosystems, food chains and food webs, the interaction of living things (plants and animals), and Earth science concepts such as Earth's water system.

Completion of this 12-week 5th Grade Science course will help your child develop their critical thinking skill such as problem solving, communication, and analysis by completing science experiments and activities. This course will also help to foster your child's curiosity.
The course meets twice weekly for 12 weeks (24 classes).

Since I live near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, we will learn about different plants, animals, and weather in this national park in some of our lessons. I think learning about different science concepts is a great way to get kids interested in science because science plays a big part in our world.

I use visual graphics such as slideshows and videos in class so that the kids can see the concepts we are discussing. I also encourage questions and sharing any knowledge that the kids may have about the science concepts because that's how we learn. We will be doing activities so that the kids can learn about the science concepts in different ways.

On the days that we do science activities, the kids will follow along with me as we do the activity. The supplies are listed in a PDF that I will post in the classroom. If you have any questions about the class or the supplies, please send me a message.

The kids will be keeping an interactive notebook, so they will need :
a 3 ring binder OR a two pocket folder with prongs to hold notebook paper
notebook paper
glue sticks
scissors
colored pencils, markers, or crayons
pencils with erasers

****All learners must be enrolled in the class to be fair to the other enrolled learners.****
