Computers are great but at times they can make us so FRUSTRATED!!!! Where did my file go? Why is everything so laggy? My wi-fi was working great a second ago and now it’s sooooooo slooooowwwwww! In my Editing class here on Outschool, I have noticed that students are missing the basics of computer organization and use. There are simple ways to make using a computer way more fun and efficient. In this 60 minute class, students will learn tricks to keep the computer running at its best and ways to use the computer more efficiently. Topics covered: BASICS OF COMPUTER HARDWARE: What is a hard drive? What is memory(RAM)? What is the CPU? And why does it matter? WHERE MY FILES GO: Have you ever downloaded or saved something and then couldn’t find it? File organization and easy ways to search for and find ‘missing’ files. MOUSE OR TRACKPAD: Scroll wheels and buttons and their many awesome uses. KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS: Let the computer do the work! ERGONOMICS: Quick tips on how to sit at your computer so you don’t get a sore neck and shoulders!
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to use their computers more efficiently and have a basic understanding of how a computer works.

Teacher expertise and credentials
A little bit about me:
I'm a geek.
But I was also the first In-house Director/Editor and Head of Video Production at the hugely successful website, Funny or Die. My video, the Landlord, starring Will Ferrell, which I directed, shot, and edited, launched the site into historical proportions with the instant viral hit. I went on to direct, produce and edit over 80 videos for the site, many of which featured A-list celebrities such as Natalie Portman, Fergie, Kristin Chenoweth, and Jon Hamm to name a few.
And throughout I have used both a Mac and PC and have become a full-fledged Geek! (or Power User if you prefer:)
I want to share the knowledge that will help reduce computer induced frustration.
Cheers!
Drew
