Class experience

6 lessons//6 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Place Value
Students will know and be able to represent the value of 3-digit numbers. We will discuss place value in the hundreds, tens, and ones as well as represent 3-digit numbers using standard form, models, and expanded form.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Addition with Regrouping Using Models & Expanded Form
Students will be able to add 3-digit numbers with regrouping using models and expanded form. We will learn how to make new tens & hundreds (regroup) using models to represent what is happening. We will also learn how breaking numbers apart into expanded form can help us to add 3-digit numbers together when regrouping is involved.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Addition with Regrouping Using Standard Form
Students will be able to add 3-digit numbers with regrouping using the standard form for addition. This is where we write the equation vertically, add the ones, and "carry" the new ten to the top, add the tens, "carry" the new hundred to the top, and finally add the hundreds.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Subtraction with Regrouping Using Models & Expanded Form
Students will be able to subtract 3-digit numbers with regrouping using models and expanded form. We will learn how to break apart a ten & hundred (regroup) using models to represent what is happening. We will also learn how breaking numbers apart into expanded form can help us to subtract 3-digit numbers together when regrouping is involved. These strategies are both really helpful in representing to students how a ten is being moved over to the ones and a hundred to the tens.
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Subtraction with Regrouping Using Standard Form
Students will be able to subtract 3-digit numbers with regrouping using the standard form for subtraction. This is where we write the equation vertically, "borrow" a ten from the tens if we do not have enough ones to subtract, subtract the ones, then "borrow" a hundred from the hundreds if we do not have enough tens to subtract, subtract the tens, and then finally subtract the hundreds.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
Word Problems
Students will be able to solve word problems involving 3-digit addition and subtraction with regrouping. Students will be given 3 steps to follow to help them effectively solve word problems. We will also discuss key terms to look for to help determine if a word problem needs to be solved using addition or subtraction.
Students will be able to add and subtract 3-digit numbers using regrouping.
Homework Offered
One homework activity will be shared per lesson. This can be turned in once completed for feedback. There will also be one Kahoot activity per lesson.
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Printable resources will be provided but are not required to be printed to use. Students should have paper and a writing utensil to work through the homework and activities given in class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Kahoot is utilized in this class. Students will be given a link via the Outschool classroom to access these activities. Kahoot is free and you do not need to have an account to complete the activities.
