Class Experience

US Grade 3
This is a one time class to practice skip counting to begin with. Some children learn/memorize by repetition, others by visualizing, other by moving around, or using music, or rhymes, or stories, or patterns, such examples will be shared to make learning times tables more fun.

Class ends with a multiplication game where the students try to beat the teacher - its a review of the multiplication facts they will learn during the class. We will play a dice points game and a math snap game too. An introductory video about the concept of multiplication will be shared for about 5 mins, the rest of it can be watched at their own time.

We will begin with skip counting the 2's and 3's and 5's and 10s and short cuts for 9s and 11's will be shared. I will expose them to various tricks, strategies and methods and how they can easily memorize some of the hardest multiplication facts. This class may be taken repeatedly for more practice.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to skip count up to 100 and beyond. They will learn tricks, tips and strategies to memorize their times tables themselves. If they repeat this class, they will learn the times tables eventually, the trick is enjoying lots of practice.

I love math and my youngest son majored in math as part of his computing science degree. I know tons of short cuts and teach my students how to think in math (algorithms). I use growth mind set instead of fixed mind sets of the past.
